REGISTRATION REGISTERS

Upon arrival at the colony, everyone was entered in the register and assigned a registration number. Some of the registers also contain a written description of what someone looked like. Separate registers were kept for each type of occupant.

Not all those involved in the colonies and 'Rijkswerkinstellingen' (National Employment Agencies) can be found via the search engine. In addition to the index, the registration registers are the most important sources for searching for colony inhabitants. For those who want to know more about the colony history of a person who cannot be found via the search screen, there is the possibility to search these registration registers on the 'manual search' page. Would you like to know more about what you can find through the search engine and what you can find through the registration registers? You can find that on the page 'what's in it'.
